Nisar responded to the challenge of further education and returned from abroad with his degree in 1998. He has just completed his Masters in Arts at Queensland University of Technology. For his Masters, he focused on online journalism.

Nisar is keenly interested in how the Internet modifies traditional journalism. He has presented papers on the topic at a number of conferences, in Australia and Singapore. In September, he will head for Sydney to report for the Olympics 2000 Online News Service.

And there’s more on his plate. He is a tutor at the Queensland University of Technology, editor of an online magazine in Australia, and a freelance writer for local companies and organisations such as monster.com.sg and the Singapore International Foundation.

Nisar says that NgeeAnn has taught him two invaluable lessons. “I learned to cope with the pressure of deadlines and deliver the goods no matter what. Secondly, I learned to juggle ten million things at one time by practising good time management. Actually it was more of crisis management!” He is grateful to Mrs Choo Cheh Hoon, Deputy Head of Film and Media Studies for her help and encouragement. He says: “We still keep in touch.”
